Westport Garden Club
Founded in 1924, the Westport Garden Club (Westport, CT), consists of 60 members united by an interest in gardening and a desire to learn and share their knowledge with others.
The mission of the Westport Garden Club is:
To further members’ interest in and knowledge of gardening, horticulture, and flower design.
To participate in civic beautification.
To promote conservation and environmental education.
Affiliated with the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut, Inc., and National Garden Clubs, Inc., we support the beautification and sustainability of Westport through the maintenance of several public gardens, and special projects, and offer support to civic organizations that share our cornerstone values of education, conservation, preservation, and beautification.
Youth Poetry Contest
2025 Theme:
“My Garden Has Vegetables to Spare That I Can Share – Helping Fight Hunger by Sharing Vegetables from Our Garden”
The National Garden Club’s Youth Poetry Contest is open to students in kindergarten through ninth grade in Special Education, English as a Second Language and General Education. This competition enables youth to embrace their creativity through the art of writing. Entries must be sent by email to The Westport Garden Club at westportctgardenclub@gmail.com by January 10. Guidelines for young poets are here! Westport finalists will be invited to read their poems at an April event at The Westport Library with the Town Poet Laureate and are then submitted to the State contest. Winners of that contest are then entered in the New England contest and those winners are sent to National! Contest partners: Westport Garden Club, Westport Arts Advisory Committee and The Westport Library.

Our 100th Anniversary Flower Show held September 28, 2024 celebrated Westport and featured exhibits in floral design, horticulture, photography, and education.
