About Us
Founded in 1924, the Westport Garden Club (Westport, CT) is a 501C3 non-profit organization, consisting of 60 members united by an interest in gardening and a desire to learn and share their knowledge with others.
The mission of the Westport Garden Club is:
To further members’ interest in and knowledge of gardening, horticulture, and flower design.
To participate in civic beautification.
To promote conservation and environmental education.
Affiliated with the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut, Inc., and National Garden Clubs, Inc., we support the beautification and sustainability of Westport through the maintenance of several public gardens, and special projects, and offer support to civic organizations that share our cornerstone values of education, conservation, preservation, and beautification.
Public Meetings & Events
Westport Garden Club Meetings are generally held the 2nd Thursday of the month at St. Luke Church in Westport. Our meetings start with a business meeting at 1 pm followed by the program at approximately 1:30 pm.

Announcing the 2026 Youth Poetry Contest!
THE WESTPORT GARDEN CLUB ANNOUNCES LOCAL YOUTH POETRY CONTEST WINNERS WIN THE CONNECTICUT STATE COMPETITION AND NEW ENGLAND COMPETITION
The Westport Garden Club in partnership with the Westport Arts Advisory Committee and The Westport Library is pleased to announce local winners of the National Garden Clubs, Inc / Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut Youth Poetry Contest for students in grades K-12.
Five entries from Westport have been selected by the State Committee and have won First Place in their grade at the state level to advance to The New England Garden Clubs regional contest. The region's final selections will then be submitted for National Garden Club Awards.
The Theme for the 2026 contest is “PLANT AMERICA FOR THE NEXT 100 YEARS
The purpose of the contest is to excite and encourage youth to express and explore their creative thoughts through different types of poetry. NGC's Poetrymbrace their creativity through the art of writing.
The Connecticut State Award-Winning Poems by Westport sponsored poets are:
Grade 2: I Planted a Seed by G. Olanoff (Long Lots Elementary School)
Grade 4: Pollinators by D. Deeckan (Homeschool)
Grade 5: A Century of Care by R.R. Paransky (Kings Highway Elementary School)
Grade 6: Our World by S. DeVito (Bedford Middle School)
Grade 7: A Walk in the Park by G. Toler (Saxe Middel School)
Regional New England Garden Clubs Winner
Grade 6: S. Devito, Our World (Bedford Middle School)
Join a National Poetry Month and Earth Day celebration with Westport’s state and regional winners as they receive their awards and read from their work Sunday, April 19 at 2pm at the Westport Library, in the Brooks Place Room.
The readings will be followed by a poetry workshop with Town Poet Laureate, Donna Disch, where attendees will be invited to write their own poems inspired by natural materials provided by The Westport Garden Club. The event is open to the public in partnership with he Westport Library and The Westport Arts Advisory Committee
