Youth Poetry Contest
2025
“My Garden Has Vegetables to Spare That I Can Share – Helping Fight Hunger by Sharing Vegetables from Our Garden”
The National Garden Club’s Youth Poetry Contest is open to students in kindergarten through ninth grade in Special Education, English as a Second Language and General Education. This competition enables youth to embrace their creativity through the art of writing.
Entries must be sent by email to The Westport Garden Club at westportctgardenclub@gmail.com by January 10.
Guidelines for young poets are here!
On April 27, all will be invited to attend, read, and be recognized by State Youth Poetry Chair, Kandra Houston. The new Westport Town Poet Laureate is excited to join us and facilitate a poetry workshop.
Winners of that contest are then entered in the New England contest and those winners are sent to National! Contest partners: Westport Garden Club, Westport Arts Advisory Committee and The Westport Library.
